Welcome to Agape House’s Student Spotlight of the week;meet Isaac Vandutsi! He is fourteen years old and comes from the district of Mbayani. This is the location where a majority of our students originate from in Blantyre. Although Isaac himself is not out in the streets, his grandmother, who is his guardian, survives on the streets. His mother passed away many years ago, and his father left thereafter. Isaac and his brother face many hardships as they try to meet their basic needs.

Although he dropped out of school in the fourth grade, he has returned to gain an education with us at Agape House! We are so proud of him for valuing his education and future. This week he worked on spelling in English at school. After he finishes his education, Isaac hopes to be a driver so that he can experience many different places. He also hopes to become independent.

When we asked him to describe himself, he stated that he was:

Humble. Courageous. Patient. Hardworking. Prayerful.

Isaac said that he is proud of himself because God always remembers him and knows that Jesus is the savior.

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget you, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” -Isaiah 49: 15-16

Lord, Isaac is so right, you remember him always. May he feel in the depths of his heart all the days of his life that he is seen and noticed by you. Loved, and not forgotten. In all of his circumstances, struggles, joys, and successes, you are there with him. That makes all of the difference. Lord, his grandmother is having to beg to sustain their family. Could you provide employment for her that they may live and have their needs met every day? Thank you for hearing. In Jesus’ Name.
